Weekend Fun and a New Niece

Supposedly, Summer's unofficial first day is Memorial Day is the unofficial start of Summer, but it's late. With today's, or rather, yesterday's scorcher hitting the high 70s (though it felt more like temperatures hit the 80s) and a promising forecast, we can all breathe a sigh of relief (yet still with an element of doubt) that "warmer days are here."

That being said, we are unable to enjoy this balmy climate thoroughly as the girls are having a small bout with their asthma. Well, at least it hasn't stopped us from having a fun weekend.

Here are pictures from the Healthy Parks, Healthy People Festival celebrating National Outdoor Day. Alexa was asleep the whole time, but Ella participated in a bunch of the educational kids activities, arts and crafts and games. RJ and I even signed up for the Trails Challenge (sponsored by the East Bay Regional Park District and Kaiser Permanente), which basically challenges us to complete 26.1 miles of self-guided hiking (through the regional park trails) by the end of the year. Wish us luck! :)

Here are some of the pictures taken at the Festival:

Ella was excited to get to ride inside the firetruck.

Sunday began with a lazy morning. Then, the day's schedule had us splitting up: RJ and Ella went to San Francisco for the Giants game and Alexa and I went to see our friend, Macie perform at her dance recital. Here are a few pics from that day:

RJ and Ella got to pose with the SF Giants' 2010 World Series trophy.

Alexa posed with Macie after the recital.

After the recital, Lex wanted some ice cream. So, we went to Fuddrucker's.

I just wish she picked strawberry or vanilla instead of chocolate.

Now, while our weekend was busy, the week is proving to be just as eventful. On Monday, we were blessed with a new niece. Emily gave birth to a healthy and beautiful baby girl, Alyssa Jayde Jacinto.

This is the first picture daddy James took and shared. What a happy baby!

Proud auntie.

With new mommy, Emily.

This is also Ella's last week at ballet (we'll start up again in the Fall) and at Watch Me Grow Preschool. She (and the rest of us) are excited to begin our Summer adventures. We'll be sure to keep you posted.

Thanks for reading!
